We all know how herbs can benefit your health. Natural remedies have become the norm in a society that credits traditional medicine. But, there’s something even better. Mixing medicinal marijuana with herbs is most beneficial. The healing properties of the combination of both herbs, whether you’re taking dry herb, oil concentrates, capsules, or edibles from the cannabis plant, is definitely something to look into for alleviating disease symptoms. Suggestions for some common blends are highlighted below. But, the great thing about mixing medicinal cannabis with natural herbs is that you can make your own combinations suited to your specific needs.
Medicinal Cannabis Tinctures:
Medicinal Cannabis Tinctures are alcohol-infused cannabis extracts. They’re also known as green or golden dragon. The process of making tinctures from marijuana dry herb is simple. Just follow the instructions and you’ll soon enjoy the many medical benefits.
Ingredients and supplies include:
1 Ounce of premium grade dry herb cannabis shake Any hash or kief for added potency 2 cups of Everclear or high ABV liquor A cannabis grinder Aluminum foil 1 Sealable plastic bag 1 Amber glass eye dropper 1 Large mason jar 1 Glass oven-safe pan 2 Coffee filters 1 Cheesecloth pack 2 cup measuring cup 1 Rubber band 1 Pair of latex gloves 1 Funnel
Step 2 requires grinding and heating the dry herb cannabis.
One ounce of dry herb cannabis shake or trimmings should be grinded, sealed in a plastic bag and placed in the freezer for one hour. Next, spread the marijuana shake and natural herb evenly in a oven-safe pan. It’s best to use a glass pan. The pan then needs to be covered with aluminum foil. Then, preheat your oven to 235 degrees. Do not let the cannabis shake heat up higher than 235 degrees because it will burn. Further information about decarboxylating cannabis can be found here.
In Step 3, you’ll be extracting the cannabinoids from the cannabis.
First, you want to let the pan cool down, but leave the foil in place. When the pan is cool enough to touch, carefully take the heated marijuana and herb and place it in a mason jar. Add the alcohol so it just covers the cannabis and herb. The cannabis and herb then need to go in the freezer anywhere between one week to six months. Shake the jar for one minute every day.
In this stage, you will process the tincture.
Using a funnel, pour the entire mixture through a double layer of cheesecloth into another glass container. Once all the liquid is poured, ring the cheesecloth until everything is squeezed out.
Be sure to use gloves when ringing the cheesecloth. What you’ll have left is a murky solution. Then, you’ll need to clean out the first jar and dry it thoroughly. Secure two coffee filters over the mouth of the jar with a rubber band. Next, pour the mixture into the jar so all of the plant matter is left on top of the coffee filters.
Enjoy! Your tincture is ready to use. Keep your tincture in a cool, dry place preferably in an amber jar.
